Tolmen Stone

Another day we’ll spent in the company of stones

I’m very lucky to live on the the doorstep of Dartmoor and have done since the early 80s.

On Wednesday I decided to go and visit my favourite stone, Tolmen Stone. It is situated on the North Teign river. My route there on this day passed Bennett’s Cross who’s age is unknown but bares the features of a distorted figure but nonetheless a beauty in my eyes.

From there I mapped my way to Kestor to view the basin on the summit, well worth the climb to the top for the view. I then headed down towards the river where there are a number of amazing clapper bridges that I crossed to reach Tolemen Stone and as always, passed through the hole.

Just a little further up and I reached Scorhill Stone Circle a mighty fine landscape of megalithic monuments.

Another day we’ll spent in the company of stones.
