The Devil's Den
After tackling the fences and the muddy, boggy fields dodging an audible (but unseen) bull, I see the stones emerging from the mist.
It was an uncharacteristically gloomy day in late July when I set out to find The Devil's Den. It is nestled in the heart of Marlborough out in the sticks of ancient Wiltshire; a county more famous for Avebury, Silbury Hill & Stonehenge, yet there are still many more standing stones to visit.
After tackling the fences and the muddy, boggy fields dodging an audible (but unseen) bull, I see the stones emerging from the mist. Circling the dolmen several times looking for the most handsome angles & doing my best not to disturb whoever - or whatever - is buried there. I managed to keep the rain off my lens just long enough to shoot the Den before I turned back & retraced my steps, still keeping an eye out for the bull & looking forward to my flask of tea.
If the weather had been better, I would have definitely climbed on top of it & become king of the castle for a day.
