Book of the Month August 2026
Future Rural + Protecting the Countryside: The First Century of CPRE
This month we have the first ever double book of the month!
Two interconnected new books from @littletollerbooks
Future Rural which is a wonderful compilation of essays and poetry focusing on what the countryside is today and what it can and could be. Published in collaboration with @cpre it is a celebration of their 100 year anniversary and a call into the future of where the countryside can go. We are absolutely loving this book, it’s so expansive and inspiring. The countryside should be an inclusive and open space for us all to explore and enjoy, and this book is completely fascinating in its exploration of how that is possible with contributions from @maryannochota @zaffarkunial amongst many many other. It’s a book of hope!
Secondly Protecting the Countryside: The First Century of CPRE. This is exactly what it describes itself as: a history of the Campaign to Protect Rural England. From its earliest days this tells the journey of who, what and why this campaign is important. A real must read for anyone interested in land access and the countryside.
We wholeheartedly recommend both!
