Dolmen de Merillés

The dolmen is located on top of a mountain range, at an altitude of 800 meters, bordered by several fields of burial mounds and other dolmens

The dolmen is called Merillés or Dolmen de Merillés. Merillés is the name of the village located two kilometers down the mountain. It is located in the Principality of Asturias, northern Spain. Asturias is one of the Atlantic regions of Spain and is part of the Celtic Nations. The dolmen is located on top of a mountain range, at an altitude of 800 meters, bordered by several fields of burial mounds and other dolmens that are located in a diameter of 10 km.

It conserves four orthostats whose arrangement allows access to the interior of the chamber from the north, a chamber whose elevation is around 80 cm. The single cover slab measures 2.70 x 2.05 x 0.25 m and is fluted in its northwest quadrant.

Next to it there's a small shepherd's hut and a stone fence where wild horses usually come to shelter when there is a storm.
