Barclodiad y Gawres (The Giantess’s Apronful) gives a revealing glimpse into the lives of our ancient ancestors

Among a series of stones are five etched with intricate patterns of zig-zags and spirals, which hint at the site’s significance for Anglesey’s early inhabitants.

Stone Club presents, as part of the Agora exhibition at Galeri Caernarfon, a chance to investigate this unique and important passage tomb which is not generally open to the public. Find out more about its architecture and enjoy special access to view the ancient, decorated stones, when the veil is thin.

Matthew Shaw, Stone Club, will present a new sound installation Crwydro Cymru Hynafol inside the chamber.

Dr Ffion Reynolds, Cadw, will be available to answer questions about the monument.

Barclodiad-y-Gawres will be open for one last day this year on 28/10/23 between 11am - 2pm, when the veil is thin.

The Agora exhibition: Welsh Heritage, Ritual and the Land is a partnership between TactileBosch and Cadw, and will be free to view at Galeri Caernarfon between the 11/10/23 – 20/11/23.
