Stone Club is a phenomenon – a place for lovers of pre-history and ancient stones to come together that has garnered a large cult following. Stone Club believes the journey is as important as the destination and encourages people to pause and think about place in new ways; connecting ancient sites through community and conversation.

Stone Club founder Matthew Shaw is joined by author and academic, James Canton. His 20023 book Grounded was a vivid exploration of ancient landscapes, and how we can heal our ruptured connection with them and the natural world.

For thousands of years, our ancestors held a close connection with the landscapes they lived in. They imbued it with meaning: stone monuments, sacred groves, places of pilgrimage. In our modern world we have rather lost that enchantment and intimate knowledge of place.

From stone circles to long barrows, round churches to sites of religious vision, Canton shows us the history and meaning encoded into the lands and places we live in, if only we take the time to look.
