The Norber Erratics

We arrived in North Yorkshire (From Cumbria) and had a gentle walk up the hillside Until we found a landscape increasingly like the moon's surface

A “stone” birthday celebration.
As my son (#1268) bought me (#2287) a membership of Stone Club last year, I thought it might be good to reciprocate by celebrating his 40th birthday with a stone-related trip.

I suggested that we visit a local stone feature which neither of us had seen before so we set out last week to see The Norber Erratics. These are just outside Austwick on the southern slope of Ingleborough - one of the Three Peaks about a half hour car ride from home.

The Erratics did not disappoint in any way. We arrived in North Yorkshire (From Cumbria) and had a gentle walk up the hillside Until we found a landscape increasingly like the moon's surface. The Erratics sit on limestone pillars spaced out on a rocky moorland slope. We didn’t see any ghosts on our trip but both felt that they are there and we will be back soon to look out for them.

A good “find” well worth visiting.
