An evening of music and song in Cornish and English.

Arlodhes A Shalott’ or ‘Lady of Shalott’ is a new song cycle in the Romantic style written by Cornwall-based composer Matthew Thomason for piano and solo voice. Created on residency at Endelienta Arts in 2024, Arlodhes A Shalott is a trailblazing new Cornish translation of Tennysons’ masterpiece poem ‘The Lady of Shalott’ put to beautiful music by Matthew Thomason and performed by Thomason, cellist Kath Buckler and singer Elizabeth Freeborn. Thomason is an international touring composer and writes for solo piano, theatre and film.Over the past few years, Elizabeth Freeborn has mesmerised audiences across the UK with her ethereal and mystical vocal style, particularly singing in the Cornish language. This new work is a must-see for those interested in the legends of King Arthur and the music is a pioneering use of the Cornish language in a classical form.

Will Keating & John Dowling Cornish singer-songwriter Will Keating and champion banjo player John Dowling are a tremendous duo and their “Duelling Banjos” is a sight to behold! They’ve performed on radio and TV, at festivals, concert halls and community spaces around Cornwall with the highlight a sold-out Minack Theatre performance in 2021. Will’s velvety vocals and presence alongside Johns world-class musicianship, is a feast for the ears, setting you on an emotional rollercoaster. John’s banjo playing has won him high accolades from across the globe. A winner and twice a finalist at the BBC Radio 2 Young Folk awards, at just 21 John became the first non-American to win the USA National Bluegrass Banjo Championships.

The Bray Family Band is a folk band hailing from Padstow, Cornwall. The father, son, and daughter trio showcase their musical talents through instruments including the accordion, guitar, and banjo. Their performances are a delightful blend of tunes, song and dance.

Stone Club / Klub Men. Founded in 2021 by Falmouth-based artists Lally MacBeth & Matthew Shaw, Stone Club was set up as a place for stone enthusiasts to congregate, to muse and most importantly to stomp to stones. They collaborate with a host of well-known musicians, artists, authors, film makers, archeologists, and broadcasters in a series of extraordinary events. Stone Club will DJ at the Gorsedh Concert and are creating some very special visuals too!
