Our first album of the month is The Songs of Sorrow: Folk Songs of Black British Experience by Angeline Morrison.
Angeline has created something remarkable, her beautifully arranged songs speak of lost, forgotten and repressed histories. The Sorrow Songs brings these stories centre stage, paving the way for a new inclusive age of folk music. One in which everyone is remembered, celebrated and respected.
The second rule of Stone Club is for everyone, and we can’t imagine any better example of this than Angeline’s album. It is a triumph and one that we will be listening to for many years to come.
